About MeMy name is Rachel Lea Fox and PhoenixFeather is my photography and photo blog site. I live in Sunnyvale California with my husband Kevin and our two cats Nym and Indiana. I am a technology communications consultant for nonprofits and foundations as well as amateur photographer. Through my consulting work I create video virtual site visits for nonprofits to help them communicate their message to funders, volunteers and participants. Too often, nonprofit documentaries become too long and too complicated. I try and teach nonprofits that simple and short is just as good, and that there are tools available so that useful videos can be done in house and low cost with video and photographs they may already have. My artistic background began with drawing and painting (at which I was just so-so) and progressed into theatre and then finally into photography. When I photograph I think a lot about the story told by a single image or a series of them and therefore found that the story grouping of photographs was a better blog style for me. |

Alan Taylor of the Boston Globe's The Big Picture inspired the design of Kevin's and my travel log about our trip to Antarctica and from there this new story blog. It feels like a complete way to tell my photo stories. The photographs are hosted on Flickr and embeded into this site using their API. You can click on any photograph to reach the Flickr page for that photograph. The past few years have been busy with travel and life events and of course every day instances, so I have quite a backlog of stories to tell. Enjoy! |
